SDL, the leading provider of Global Information Management (GIM) solutions, today announced the availability of SDL Translation Management System™ Service Pack 1.

The SDL Translation Management System (SDL TMS™) helps many of the world’s leading brands manage the complex tasks and processes needed to create and publish multilingual content to a global audience. SDL TMS helps these companies reduce the time needed to bring new products to today’s global markets – allowing them to increase market share. Major new features include:

  • Enhanced Multi-Vendor Support – The improved multi-vendor support make it easier for companies creating global information to work with multiple Language Service Providers (LSPs) through a common platform. Flexible controls enable the creation, tracking and usage of LSP specific information, while extensive security controls ensure the integrity of sensitive data.

  • Integrated Software Localization Support – Integration with SDL Passolo, the market leading visual software localization application, allows SDL TMS to automate the localization of software files.

  • Extensive Translation Memory (TM) enhancements – New features allow companies to increase the reuse of existing translated text. By providing a combination of more flexible Translation Memory sequencing and extensive attribute support SDL TMS provides companies greater control of existing localized content leading to an even greater reduction in localization costs.

  • SDL TMS also provides a completed integrated solution for maintaining consistency of language and terminology between software and user documentation.

“Alpha CRC works with a number of companies that have deployed SDL TMS to manage the creation of global information,” said Paul Mangell, Director and Partner of Alpha CRC. "By enhancing the ability to support multiple LSPs we see this service pack as strengthening its position as the standard for the Industry, an open GIM system for managing the workflow between customer and translator. With SDL TMS, customers retain ownership of their central translation memories but have the flexibility to control workflow progress by adding multiple localization vendors.”

“To support global business, companies need to create, manage and publish ever increasing volumes of multilingual content,” said Keith Mills, President of Technology at SDL. “This new version of SDL Translation Management System will enable companies to increase the range of content that can be managed, allowing them to maximize the reuse of existing translations and enhance consistency across all corporate information.”
