SDL, the leading provider of Global Information Management (GIM) solutions, announced today that Royal Philips Electronics has standardized on its on-demand Global Information Management technology to handle translation for its Consumer Electronics, Domestic Appliances and Medical Divisions around the globe.
By using one centralized system for delivering content across more than 35 languages, Philips Consumer Electronics has already reduced the time needed to deliver content to global websites by 88 per cent, cut translation costs by 47 per cent and reduced internal inefficiencies by 85 per cent.
“SDL’s technology has had a dramatic impact on our Consumer Electronics and Domestic Appliances divisions by enabling us to launch simultaneously into multiple markets without having to wait for translation,” said Luuk de Jager at Philips Consumer Electronics.
“This partnership will now enable us to deliver a strategic international approach to multi-lingual product content across the business units of Philips Medical too. As the competition continues to intensify, any organization with global ambition must seek to capitalize on technology to maximise resources across the globe. SDL’s proven scalable translation technology will enable us to further drive business growth across the globe and capitalize on new market opportunities without falling at the language hurdle.”
“Firms are beginning to realize that competition is fierce as the desire to branch out into emerging markets grows by the day,” said Dr. Chris Boorman, CMO at SDL. “Those trying to gain footprint in new territories must adapt in order to effectively compete with local established players. The winning formula for success in today’s global business environment is quick time-to-market while maintaining and driving brand consistency and company reputation. Our approach, Global Information Management (GIM), makes that happen. The fact that one of the world’s largest electronics companies has implemented a GIM strategy across the entire enterprise is a clear indicator that this is the future for driving global business growth.”
