SDL International Acquires Dublin Company and Unveils Global Testing Solution

SDL Maidenhead , United Kingdom
04 April 2000

SDL plc ("SDL International"), one of the world's leading internet product and globalization service companies, today announced the development of software and internet testing facilities incorporating the acquisition of Aslan Localization Services. In the next few months, SDL International will be rolling out these services globally.

Based in Dublin, Ireland, Aslan has been providing in-house and onsite engineering services to the software localization market, including companies such as FileNet, Corel and Sun Microsystems.

Commenting on the acquisition, Mark Lancaster, CEO of SDL International, said:

"With up to 30% of internet and application globalization budgets being spent on testing, SDL International recognises the need for companies to have an effective and efficient solution of outsourcing their testing requirements to a dedicated and independent body. We have responded to that need by setting up testing facilities throughout our offices around the world and by the acquisition of Aslan Localization Services.
"We will provide our customers with both a test laboratory outsourcing and onsite facility for quality assurance testing and engineering. The addition of Aslan's capabilities to our products and services continues our commitment to provide a complete solution. Our customers will be able to choose the solution that best meets their needs by selecting either experienced onsite QA testers and engineers or selecting to utilise the extensive in-house test bed facilities."
